Upcoming Retreats

Retreats at Big Blue Gallery are defined by the artist in residence at the time of each stay. Participants join during a specific residency period, taking part in artist-led workshops, shared practice, and informal exchange, balanced with time to focus on their own work.

Deb Malschick, Visiting Artist at Artshaven

Working in beautiful Nova Scotia by the bay was an inspiring experience. The accommodations in the Big Blue Gallery and in the school house studio worked out very well. The light was gorgeous, as was the landscape. The coast view provided nightly colorful sunsets. The community embraced me as a visiting artist. I did several portraits as well as lots of sketching on site. I also enjoyed plenty of fresh seafood and wonderful live Acadian music.
